The Sorensens: Vacation IV

I am continuing to get caught-up on all the pictures that I wanted to post from our summer vacation. I know I am a slacker, but my mentor at Bella Corsa Blog was a slacker this summer too so I do not feel so bad. It rained really hard on Labor Day and as a result I was able to get some time to upload some pictures and make an attempt to get caught-up. I am working on adding my witty commentary to the uploaded pictures now and get the pictures posted so both people that ever look at my blog can read about our summer vacation. I might add that I can say whatever I want on the blog about Lori because she does not ever read my posts either.

Grandpa Dimond inherited some very stylish red pants from that legendary University of Utah basketball player, Poison Pearl Pollard. In his attempts to keep peace in the family and try and appease everyone (or create strife and stir everyone up, as the case may be), he wears those lovely University of Utah red pants with his BYU shirt. This is the fashion statement man taking a snooze on the couch.

Sierra wanted to go slop the pigs at Uncle Bryant's house in Herriman so we all went there to see the animals. Here is Brett, Jared, Blake and Marin trying to cozy-up to Uncle Bryant's donkey. Unfortunately, the donkey did not want to play.

There was a fence available and therefore, it had to be climbed. Here is Ryan and Marin demonstrating their prowess at climbing the fence. They certainly were not dressed for the farm. Ryan's Crocs are not exactly great farm shoes. We got them cowboy boots so they could play cowboy, but what does Ryan wear when we go see the cows?

One of the activities we had planned was to go to This Is The Place - Heritage Park with the kids. When we pulled into the parking lot the place was PACKED! We were fortunately able to find a parking place on the helicopter landing pad. We were wondering what in the world was going on and when we went to purchase our tickets we discovered why it was so crowded. We just happened to decided to go there on FREE DAY. We tried to make the best of it and since it was free we could not really complain much, but I would have preferred to pay the entrance fee than deal with the crowds. We made the best of it and saw what we were able to in spite of the crowds. Here we are learning about oxen. Did you know that Oxen are just about any breed of cow that has been trained to pull a wagon? I did not know that before we made our trip.

This is Ryan and I as we were waiting to get on the train. Since it was so crowded the wait was long, but Ryan HAD to ride the train even though it was not even a real one. It just had regular rubber tires and went on the road. Some were wondering if it was worth the wait in the heat, but for Ryan there was no doubt what he wanted to do.

When we were tired of the crowds and heat at This is the Place, we went to the Joseph Smith Memorial Building and watched the movie in air-conditioned comfort. Then we walked around the church grounds taking some pictures before dispersing. Here are the kids in front of the Salt Lake Temple.
