Knee Surgery

From my posting frequency I am sure both of you that check my blog can tell that things have been crazy. I went to Canada for work the end of September and since that time I have been working extra and life has been in high gear. On Oct. 19th it got even more interesting for me. I was playing with the kids outside on Sunday afternoon because they were driving Lori and I nuts in the house with all their energy. I was kicking a soccer ball with them when I felt my knee pop. I thought that I might be able to just work through it but it swelled-up like a big balloon. On Oct. 21st I was able to go see an orthopedic surgeon whose son plays for the Greatwood Packers and who worked with Jared when he broke his collarbone last year. He drained 60 cc of fluid off my knee and told me it looked like surgery. I was able to get in to have an MRI done on the same day. On Thursday I found out that the MRI showed I needed to have surgery and on Friday morning I was having it. I tore the meniscus (cartilage) in my knee and sprained one of the ligaments. I went to Physical Therapy today and I am doing better but I still cannot drive and my knee is very sore. Hopefully by the end of the week I will be off the crutches and able to drive. My goal is to get back to where I can play with the kids again (jump on the trampoline, kick the soccer ball, play a little football and bike) and the boys are looking forward to that as well.
