Flat Stanley on the way to South Padre Island

After visiting King Ranch, we stopped at a Dairy Queen in Kingsville for lunch. We just happened to find a Dairy Queen that did not have any ice cream because their machine was broken and was being repaired. But, we stayed and had some lunch anyway before hitting the road for South Padre Island.

We got to South Padre Island in the evening and checked into our hotel on the beach. We stayed at the La Quinta, which has direct beach access. The is Jared with Flat Stanley on the balcony over-looking the water.

Hurricane Dolly hit South Padre Island and Brownsville last summer and while it was not as bad as Hurricane Ike the island was still showing signs of the damage. They were working on the roof of the hotel we stayed at and some hotels were still closed due to the damage.
