King Ranch

On the Monday after Christmas we left Padre Island and headed further south to King Ranch. We tried to take the tour last year but it was too crowded and we did not have time. In addition, we went on New Years Day and the Kings Ranch Saddle Shop was closed for inventory. We decided to go a little earlier this year and we were able to to the Saddle Shop and the tour although the tour bus was completely full.

I should have taken some picture in the Saddle Shop but we were so busy looking at King Ranch knives that I failed to do that. It was interesting. The tour was interesting but we were only allowed to leave the bus one time and the rest was just driving around the ranch on a crowded bus. We did see some big white tail deer, bucks and does, as well as some other wildlife but the crowded bus made it too difficult to get some pictures of them to share. I think I got some video footage of the wildlife. That was interesting. We drove past the 32,000 square foot house but they are not allowed to even stop the bus by the house much less go on a tour of the thing. I thought we were in for a tour of the house like they do at George Ranch and instead we sat in the bus while they drove past it. If we are in the area again the King Ranch Saddle Shop may be a place we will stop in the future, but we do not have any interest in going on another tour of the Ranch. George Ranch is much closer to our house and much more interesting to tour.
