Greatwood Packers Football - Jared Game 8

On October 27th was our last set of regular seasons games. This week the Greatwood Packers played the West Side Panthers. We played at George Bush High School so the stadium was very nice this time around. But, for some reason the fields were all wet. Some cool weather hit the Houston area last week to the point where we actually needed jackets. Along with the cool weather we have had some dry weather which has been nice. So, the water on the field was not due to rain. For some reason they must have watered the field the night before and there was still standing water on the grass. For all the good the water did for the grass, playing football on the wet grass did more damage as the grass was torn-up and muddy after the games.

Lori, Brett and Ryan in the stands. It was sunny and it did warm-up, but it was a cool morning so jackets were required. It was a nice break from the heat.

The downside of the nice stadium is the distance we are from the field and the players. So getting the good pictures of Jared is a challenge. Here we have Jared sitting on the track because of the standing water on the field. As always, he looks as if he is totally enthralled by the happenings on the field. Even though Jared went to practice all week, we decided it was better that he not play in the game. The main reason is we did not want him to get hurt again and he is out of shape from not practicing. We also did not want the Packers to risk losing a game because Jared had to play. If Jared were passionate about playing football, both us and the coaches may have felt differently. The bottom line is Jared is perfectly fine with not playing in the game.

This picture shows all the water on the field. If you look carefully, you can see the water splashing around the players. You can also see the results on the player's uniforms.

The was the West Side Panther's Homecoming Game. Here we have the Panther Freshman Homecoming King and Queen. They do the Mum thing as well although it did not appear that the Panther parents are as into it as the Packer parents were.

This is the Greatwood Packers Freshman Moms Cheerleaders. They take their cheerleading very seriously.

The Freshman Packers won this game 14-6. The freshman team finished the regular season with a winning record of 6 wins and 2 losses. They have played very well this season and are headed to the playoffs in a very good position. They have a very good chance of winning their first game.
